The first competitions of the Summer Olympics will start even before the opening ceremony: Three team sports will kick off on Wednesday, July 24, 2024. The first preliminary round matches will take place in handball, 7-a-side rugby and soccer. The first medals in eight sports will then be awarded on July 27, 2024. The competition calendar at the 2024 Olympics is long, with competitions starting early in the morning and ending shortly before midnight. 32 sports and 48 disciplines are a part of Olympia in 2024. In addition to the classics such as Athletics, Swimming and Cycling, Breakdance will be part of the Olympic Games for the first time in Paris 2024. So there is something for every sports fan.
The main competition for Olympic gold at the 2024 Summer Olympics will take place in Paris and the north of the city. A large number of the venues already exist so that only a few sports facilities have been built especially for the Games. Competitions will be held at many of Paris' famous landmarks: Place de la Concorde, Roland-Garros Stadium, Grand Palais or the Eiffel Tower Stadium (pictured), for example.
